Apprentice Support - Fitness
Occupational Fitness
Since 2008 we have worked with HETA to deliver workforce health & performance training to apprentices & staff. We are passionate about improving the health & well-being of the worker through our unique workshops; these address the ‘barriers’ that can lead to work-relevant poor health. By removing & minimizing these barriers the worker is happier & finds it much easier to perform to their best. This now healthier, highly performing workforce unlocks the organisation’s potential which can reap substantial absenteeism savings & improved productivity.
Also in 2008, highly significant reports were released by occupational health industry professionals that detailed the national need for such training programmes. The report recommendations match those of Occupational Fitness & we work along side the resultant ‘Health, work, & well-being’ government scheme..

Course topics & results
Occupational Fitness workshops consist of theory, discussion, & practical elements to fully engage the participants. The modules for our ‘Advanced Apprentice course’ undertaken by HETA apprentices can be seen here. Below is a summary of how the apprentices gained from the course:

As you can see, a total of 98.1% of apprentices on the course thought it was useful to their job role. Over 58% of these deemed it 'very useful'.

Over 92% of apprentices at HETA said that our course had raised their awareness and prompted them to make changes to their daily activities.
This means that 92% will have increased performance and productivity, improved absence rates, and higher job satisfaction bringing huge financial gains.

A real measure of the effectiveness of our courses is if participants come away recommending it to colleagues. Virtually all of the HETA apprentices said they would!
Some of the apprentices also left comments giving their thoughts on the Advanced Apprentice course as a whole:
1. “I enjoyed this course, very informative and it opened my eyes to a lot of new techniques that will be able to help me day to day, and in the long-term as well.”
Justin Setterfield (HETA training dept. Corus Steel Works)
2. “Great teacher who taught us well and knew what he was talking about."
Joshua Hindley (HETA training dept. Hull)
3. “The course was very helpful and useful, especially as our work style was included in it to make it relevant to us.”
Vicky Lefley (HETA training dept Corus Steel Works)
