“Richard Heighington, Mick Lennox and myself visited HETA at Hull and following a meeting with Matt Gardner, were given a conducted tour around the workshop. We were very impressed by the workshop and the training that the apprentice's undergo, not least of all the H&S training and the implementation of H&S within the establishment. I was particularly interested in the electrical work that had been carried out by apprentices and also the fault simulation that was applied by the trainers to enable the apprentices to fault find.
The Yorkshire Water assessment day demonstrated to myself and others within the company, the high standard of the apprentices from HETA, the two apprentices who were successful in being offered employment by Yorkshire Water, are progressing well, with good comments from Craftsmen they have worked with. The unsuccessful applicants for the two posts, were by no means disgraced, it was, I can say an extremely difficult task to separate the successful from the unsuccessful. Yorkshire Water will be looking for a further two apprentices, in the early part of 2011, HETA will be the first port of call.”
