Hard work brings reward
Since the 2009 presentation night for HETA’s Scunthorpe apprentices, Corus has become Tata Steel – and the relationship between the two companies has strengthened still further. Addressing apprentices and their families at the second awards evening, which involved apprentices who started in September 2009, HETA General Manager Eric Collis praised the trainees for their hard work.

HETA hold meeting for MP’s and client companies
Finance was top of the agenda at a meeting attended by two local MPs, HETA clients and representatives of organisations including the National Apprentice Service and the ECITB. Cleethorpes MP Martin Vickers joined Graham Stuart, MP for Beverley and Holderness, who is also Chairman of the Education Select Committee at Westminster for what HETA General Manager Eric Collis described as “a very important meeting”

Double success for Simone
For prior to joining HETA, Simone had spent three years completing an NVQ in car mechanics. Unable to find a job despite her qualifications, she saw HETA’s advertisement. However, it was still not all plain sailing as she initially failed to find a sponsor, instead accepting a place as a Programme Led Apprentice, something she describes as “a bit of a struggle financially to start with.”
