We would like to invite your KS1 and KS2 pupils to take part in the Regional Bug Hunt that will take place during National Science Week 2012.
Pupils will be asked to search for, identify and record the number of bugs (mini-beasts, creepy crawlies etc) in a 1 m2 of their school field/grounds using the identification keys provided by us.
Pupils will then be asked to return their findings back to the teacher so they can complete the findings chart including weather conditions, temperature and type of habitat of the 1 m2. This should then be returned to me and the results will be collated. The regional results will be collated into a simple child-friendly newsletter containing the region’s bug ‘hotspots’ as well as the ten most common mini-beasts etc. Copies of these will be sent to all participating schools and added to the HETA website.
This activity is free and Bug Identification Keys, packs of worksheets and Newsletters can all be downloaded from the HETA website.
If you feel you would be interested in taking part, please email niki@heta.co.uk . You will then be sent a link where you can download all the forms you need.
If you have any other queries regarding the Bug Hunt please do not hesitate to contact Niki.
