Mark started with HETA as a Mechanical Instructor at the CATCH centre to teach and mentor the BTEC Non Destructive Testing group. In August 2010 Mark was promoted to Deputy Manager at CATCH and in December 2011 took overall control of the CATCH site as Workshop Manager.
Mark served his apprentice at Christian Salvesen’s in Grimsby between 1983 and 1987 as a mechanical fitter predominantly working on their two sites looking after their cold storage and process freezing lines. He then left in 1989 to take a post at Ciba Geigy (now Novartis) as a mechanical technician. Mark spent seven years at Novartis working across the whole site ending up in building 120 (which was the company flagship building at the time) as changeover co-ordinator.
Mark left Novartis in 1997 to take a position of Senior Engineering Technician at CCL Industries in Grimsby. A role which he fulfilled for 8 months until he was promoted Engineering Team Leader. After 2 years at the Grimsby site Mark moved to the Scunthorpe site to take the post of Project Manager.
In 2001 Mark decided he wanted to run his own business so he negotiated an initial contract with CCL to overhaul some of their fast fill process machines. He the sought out a small workshop in Grimsby which he found with an already vibrant business. Mark then purchased the business and for several years ran a very productive maintenance and fabrication company carrying out major contracts for some of the major building contractors in the area but covering the whole of the country.
Due to the economic climate decreasing within the building industry in 2009 Mark decided to seek out permanent employment again and in September he became employed here at HETA.
