Humberside Engineering Training Association (HETA) celebrates the successful completion of the first year of training by the 2023/24 cohort of apprentices. This year has seen a record number of apprentices enrolled, reflecting the increasing demand for skilled engineers in the region, as highlighted in the Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP).
Founded in 1967, HETA has a longstanding legacy of providing high-quality technical training. Over the years, it has evolved into a cornerstone of engineering education in the region, continuously adapting to meet the industry's evolving needs. The successful completion of the first training year by this cohort is a testament to HETA's commitment to nurturing future engineering talent.
To honour the apprentices' achievements, HETA held awards ceremonies across its three sites in Hull, Grimsby and Scunthorpe. These events celebrated the learners' hard work and dedication, with sectional awards recognising outstanding performance in specific disciplines and overall apprentice awards for each site.
Iain Elliott, CEO of HETA, expressed his immense pride in the cohort, stating, "I am incredibly proud of what our apprentices have achieved this year. Their hard work and dedication have not only set a high standard for future cohorts but also significantly contribute to the region's engineering workforce. The impact these young engineers will have on our local industries is profound and will help drive economic growth and innovation."
Iain also extended his gratitude to the HETA staff, acknowledging their unwavering commitment to training and mentoring the apprentices. "Our staff's dedication and expertise are the backbone of our success. They go above and beyond to ensure our learners are equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in their careers. Their efforts are deeply appreciated and integral to the development of the learners."
Additionally, Iain thanked the employers who have play a crucial role in supporting the development of these young people. "We are incredibly grateful to our partner employers for their ongoing support and investment in the talent of the region. Their commitment to providing real-world experience and opportunities is invaluable in shaping the future of these apprentices and, by extension, the future of our engineering industry."
The demand for engineers in the region continues to grow, driven by the LSIP's focus on enhancing technical skills to support local industries. HETA's role in meeting this demand is crucial, and the success of the 2023/24 cohort reinforces its position as a leading provider of engineering training.
As HETA looks forward to another year of training, it remains committed to its mission of delivering excellence in engineering education, ensuring that the region's future engineers are well-prepared to meet the challenges and opportunities ahead.
