In a strategic partnership aimed at addressing the skills gap for young, unsponsored learners, HETA has joined forces with Startingpoint, a well-established employability service provider. The collaboration seeks to equip learners with the essential skills needed to thrive in today's post-COVID digital job market, where part-time work opportunities have diminished, making it more difficult for young people to develop critical workplace abilities.
With the shift towards a more digital landscape, the availability of traditional part-time roles that once provided young people with foundational employability skills, such as teamwork, communication, and time management, has significantly reduced. This has left many learners struggling to gain the practical experience required to make them job-ready. The partnership between HETA and Startingpoint addresses this challenge head-on by delivering a series of tailored employability workshops designed to unlock learners' potential and prepare them for the competitive job market. In addition, the Startingpoint platform then allows the learners to demonstrate their work readiness through a skills based portfolio and links them with Employers.
Charlotte Hogben, Sales & Marketing Manager at HETA, expressed her enthusiasm for the collaboration: "Partnering with Startingpoint has been a fantastic opportunity for us to help learners realise the skills they already possess and guide them on how these can be used to build successful careers. It’s about boosting their confidence and showing them where they can take these skills. By working together, we’re ensuring that our learners are truly work-ready."
Startingpoint brings a wealth of experience in supporting individuals who may lack direct sponsorship or traditional routes into employment. Their expert guidance, combined with HETA’s industry-leading technical training, creates a holistic program that provides young learners with both the technical know-how and the soft skills necessary for career success.
Director of Startpoint, Tom Simpson, believes the partnership showcases how the platform can help to shape the future of recruitment: "Our partnership with HETA has been incredibly valuable to StartingPoint. It's crucial for young people to use media to showcase not only their skills but also their personality. By collaborating with HETA, we're maximising opportunities for these ambitious individuals to connect with world-class employers. This approach represents the future of the recruitment process."
This initiative is a key part of HETA’s broader mission to ensure that all learners, regardless of their background, are equipped with the tools they need to succeed in the workplace. As the job market continues to evolve, programs like this are crucial in ensuring that the next generation of workers is adaptable, skilled, and ready to meet the demands of the modern workforce.
