The Puffins Galore campaign is now live, with vibrant puffins covering the East Yorkshire Coast.
After the extremely successful ‘A moth for Amy’ campaign, in which painted moths decorated the Yorkshire region, Puffins Galore was created to help develop a more vibrant coastline, aid local charities such as The Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, RSPB, and Hornsea Inshore Rescue, encourage tourism to the region, and raise awareness for climate change.
With help from local artists, the puffins are designed using the following three themes:
One of the creations, a 1.5-metre-high puffin designed by artist Leo Welton and proudly sponsored by HETA “features lighthouses with their lights shining as a beacon of hope for the future – a future of greener energy and our need to embrace our changing landscape as wind turbines and solar panels become ever prominent”.

Leo is a graphic designer and artist based in the North West. However, from the North East originally and with family roots in Hull, they spent much of their childhood summers on Spurn Point and the surrounding coastline, so feels very connected to Puffins Galore! Leo works for a diverse range of clients on design projects and their artwork is an experimental mix of drawing, painting and digital work.
Yesterday, we had the opportunity to hear from some of the artists, sponsors, recipients, and organisers behind the campaign to get a better understanding of the vision behind the project, and the outlook of the company going forward.
Thank you for inviting us to the event, it was a pleasure meeting you all, and we look forward to seeing what projects you embark on in the future.
