HETA has close to 60 years of experience delivering engineering training in the engineering and manufacturing field and throughout that time, we have furthered the careers of thousands of engineers.
We work alongside some of the biggest manufacturers in UK to support the growth and development of their staff, by helping them to expand their skills and knowledge through our higher nationals programmes.
Level up your skills and knowledge and progress your career by applying for a HNC today:
*Please note, we are no longer accpeting applications for HNC programmes in Hull, though there are still places available in Grimsby.
A HNC in mechanical engineering is an excellent choice for those who are looking to progress their careers, this could be solely by expanding their technical knowledge or for those looking to progress into senior roles, where an ability to manage projects and improve processes would be necessary.
This qualification allows those who are already in engineering or technical roles to showcase their ability to employers by receiving formal qualifications that certify the skills and knowledge they will gain. Not only that but the flexible learning schedule that a HNC allows for makes it a great option for those balancing study with a full-time role in the engineering or manufacturing industry.
By completing projects specific to your workplace, the HNC will also allow you to directly apply the knowledge you gain to both current and future roles, improving your ability and confidence.
Perhaps most importantly, a HNC can be used as a stepping stone for those who aspire to acheive higher qualifications, such as a HND (Higher National Diploma) at Level 5, or a full degree in mechanical engineering.
The Higher National Certificate (HNC) is a Level 4 qualification made up of 120 credits. It is studied part-time over two years (40 weeks per year). The units that make up the Mechanical Engineering HNC are as follows:
This level 4 BTEC qualification is accredite by Pearsons.
Studying a HNC means that you will be required to attend our Hull or Grimsby training centre one day per week for two years. (40 weeks per year).
We enrol yearly for all of our higher national programmes, you will begin studying in September.
As a minimum, applicants should hold or be working towards a Level 3 technical certificate. Applications from ‘mature’ Engineering technicians with suitable equivalent qualifications are welcomed and previous engineering experience may be considered as evidence of suitability for the course.
Candidates looking to apply must complete the online application and will need the following information:
